Were that I were a fool

the more full my life

never to care who has the rule

never to cast aside the imperfections that are what is

always to plunge into in the simple magic of existence:

yellow sun shining

white moon watching over us

Were that I were a fool

perhaps to charm you more

"Lucky fool", we say, 'tis true

for only fools know naught

and in that naught is not the knowing

of the knot of knowing

that no-ing

Were that I were fool

this tempest of reason unheeding

perhaps I'd kiss the one I love

and she inspired by sacred stupidity

would fool around with me
